Wendy and I hauled up to BC for our last ride of the season. She had done several rides with both Galen and Khan since Home on the Range, while I was at home with foaling mares, breeding, and kids. I got to drive my new (to me) Ford 350 dually and we went up and down the passes like we had nothing behind us. We trailered with David and Jennifer LeBlanc and set up camp next to them. It’s definitely nice to have a big rig right next door! Makes life much easier. Wendy and I stay in the horse trailer, so aren’t exactly roughing it, but being able to get into a heated kitchen is heaven. Wendy and I were both doing the LD ride, and we really enjoyed our day. There were lots of hills and the boys got lots of up and down work that day. The trail was gorgeous, through woods and meadows, with bunches of cattle everywhere. The boys gave them a bit of the hairy eyeball in the beginning, but got used to them very quickly. We also heard rumors of buffalo, but did not meet up with any. We went at a very conservative pace and were very surprised that we ended up in the top ten! Everyone else was just going slower. The ride management had some lovely completion awards and a bunch of nice little gifts for us Americans. They were a very nice group and we’ll most likely head back there next year.
